Cops busted a man suspected of killing five people Friday night at a Washington mall following a 24 hour manhunt, according to state police.
The 20-year-old gunman who opened fire in a Macy’s at Cascade Mall in Burlington was nabbed on Whidbey Island, according to local reports and authorities.
Washington State Patrol Sgt. Keith Leary says he was apprehended in Oak Harbor, 28 miles west of Burlington.
The suspect was not immediately identified.
The manhunt focused on a suspect, described as a Hispanic man in his late teens to early 20s wearing black clothes.
The shooter was captured on surveillance footage during the mall rampage.
He was last seen Friday night walking toward Interstate 5.
The “hunting type” rifle allegedly used in the Friday night massacre had was recovered ahead of the weekend apprehension, officials said.
The gunman killed five shoppers at the Cascade Mall in Burlington, Wash.
The FBI was assisting local authorities, but there was no evidence to point to terrorism.
Authorities said four women ranging in age from teens to seniors, died after the gunman opened fire in the makeup department of a Macy’s store.
An adult man who was wounded in the shooting died early Saturday, officials said.
