Toronto police made an arrest Thursday after a woman was robbed in an elevator near Deer Park earlier this month.

On July 1 at 11:20 p.m., police responded to a call for a robbery in the St. Clair Ave. W. and Avenue Rd. area.

A 35-year-old woman entered a condo building and was followed into the elevator by an unknown man.

Police said the man indicated he had a weapon and assaulted the woman. He robbed her of her purse and then fled.

Police released security video of the incident. They said the suspect was believed to be armed, violent and dangerous.

John McKenna, 23, of Kingston, was charged with robbery, uttering threats of bodily harm, theft under $5,000, failing to comply with probation order, using a credit card obtained by crime and criminal harassment.

He is expected to appear in court July 24.
