A special education teacher at a Pennsylvania school for juvenile offenders is accused of having sex with a student in her classroom.
Jordan Dominique Ondish was arrested last week after officials at Summit Academy in Herman obtained a cellphone with sexually explicit text messages between the teacher and a 19-year-old student, WPXI reports.
Ondish is also accused of buying the unidentified teen the phone, officials said.
The victim told investigators that he and Ondish started talking outside class and things progressed to them having sex twice in her classroom in November.
“It wasn’t a relationship that the two were supposed to have – this was institutional sexual assault,” state trooper Dan Kesten told WPXI.
According to authorities, the 23-year-old special education teacher allegedly admitted to the tryst saying that she was in an abusive relationship and developed an emotional connection to the victim.
Jordan Dominique Ondish was arrested for having sex with a student in her classroom.
Ondish, who was hired in June, was previously issued a warning about the student.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that in mid-November officials told the educator to protect her space after she was caught letting the student sit next to her at her desk and keeping him in her classroom after work hours.
“The administration at Summit Academy was made aware of an inappropriate relationship between a teacher and a student and it was immediately reported to the state police,” the school said in a statement last week. “The teacher was then terminated.”
Ondish was charged with felony institutional sexual assault and was released from jail on Monday on an unsecured $ 30,000 bond.
