During an appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” Shawn Mendes opened up about his failed attempt to say hello to fellow Canadian musician, Drake.
The “Treat You Better” singer told host Jimmy Fallon he spotted Drake at a The Weeknd concert and was “mildly star struck.”
He assumed he’d be able to just walk up and say what’s up to the rapper, whom he’d met “like twice.” Boy was he wrong.
“He’s a huge guy, right? So you don’t just go over to him — I guess not,” Mendes said.

“Next thing I know, I’m, like, in the middle of The Weeknd show with, like, my arm hooked behind my back, like, with his, Drake’s, security guard, like, has me completely at his mercy.”
Lucky for Mendes, Drake, 30, recognized him and rectified the situation.
The 19-year-old musician isn’t harboring any hard feelings toward the security guard who stopped him — “he was doing his job.”
“But still, I was terrified,” Mendes told Fallon. “Don’t expect everybody to know who you are.”
