A representative for Aretha Franklin says the rumors swirling about the legendary singer’s health are way out of tune.
Television personality Shaun Robinson took to Twitter Tuesday to clarify concerns about Franklin’s health, and confirmed that she is doing just fine.
“Good Morning, Everyone. I just spoke to one of Ms. Franklin’s family friends in my hometown Detroit. They spoke to Aretha moments ago and asked me to tell you please don’t believe this news that was trending. Have a good day,” she wrote.
Robinson linked her tweet to a fake post claiming Franklin had passed away. The bogus tweet was the account’s lone post, and was shared amid concerns about the 75-year-old singer’s health that made her name a trending topic on Twitter Tuesday morning.
The update from Robinson brought a welcome sigh of relief to Franklin’s legion of fans, who replied to her tweet with a flood of images expressing their happiness that she was doing OK.
The “Respect” singer was forced to cancel a concert in June on doctor’s orders, and said earlier this year that she planned to retire from touring by the end of 2017.
