Kreider, who has remained out of action since being removed Dec. 27 in a game against the Capitals, will be reevaluated in six weeks. He remains out indefinitely.

While the timetable for Kreider isn’t clear, there is precedent for such a procedure. Steven Stamkos and Andrei Vasilevskiy of the Lightening have both undergone surgery after being diagnosed with blood clots in the last three years, with each player returning after approximately two months.
Kreider racked up 11 goals and 11 assists in 37 games prior to the injury.
