West Shore RCMP have identified the victim of a “suspicious death” just outside of Victoria.
Police said in a written statement that 60-year-old Martin Payne was found deceased in his home in the 1000 block of Brookview Drive, Metchosin on Friday.
Police were following up after Payne was reported missing from work. Foul play is suspected.
The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit has been called in to investigate. Neither the RCMP nor the VIIMCU has arrested a suspect in connection to the death.
Three days earlier, on July 9 at 1 p.m., the Oak Bay Police Department located Payne’s red Ford F150 pickup truck, with B.C. licence plate 7432HY parked on Woodburn Avenue, in Oak Bay.
The truck is a red and grey extended cab four-by-four with a black metal headache rack and black bed rails.
“We are seeking witnesses to come forward who may have seen the victim’s red Ford F150 pickup truck or anyone associated to this vehicle between the afternoon of July 8th and July 9th at 1 p.m,” Corporal Chris Dovell with West Shore RCMP said in a written statement.
Anyone with more information about the death is asked to contact the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit information line at 250-380-6211.
