Police arrest Toronto man suspected in cross-country sex trafficking of 19-year-old woman

Police arrested a man suspected of human trafficking on Saturday.

Police have arrested a man suspected of exploiting and trafficking a young woman in the sex trade throughout Ontario and across the country to British Columbia.

On Saturday, Peel Regional Police arrested a Toronto man at a traffic stop in Mississauga. The man was wanted on human trafficking charges in Durham region, Durham police said.

Police said the man is suspected of recruiting a 19-year-old woman to work for him as an escort between July 2016 and April 2018.

Eron Rochester, 22, of Toronto, was charged with obtaining sexual services for consideration, material benefit for trafficking a person, procuring, advertising sexual services, trafficking in persons and material benefits from trafficking person over 18.

Rochester may also be known as Tristan Matthews. Police said they are working to ensure there are no other victims.

Police say Rochester was held for a bail hearing.
