Panthers cornerbacks Josh Norman and Cortland Finnegan made their feelings toward Giants wideout Odell Beckham Jr.’s dirty play perfectly clear after Carolina’s 38-35 win to stay unbeaten at the Meadowlands Sunday evening.
“I hope I pulled back the mask on who this guy really is,” Norman said following his one-on-man matchup that involved several violent exchanges.
Finnegan fingered Beckham Jr. for a number of cheap shots throughout the game. Officials flagged Beckham Jr. for three personal fouls, but the Panthers were apoplectic in the locker room afterward.
Norman was particularly upset regarding the play when Beckham Jr. ran toward a tackle pile and lunged toward Norman to hit him in the side of the head. Beckham Jr. connected and Norman’s head snapped back.
Odell Beckham (l.) goes after Carolina cornerback Josh Norman a number of times in Sunday’s Giants loss to the Panthers.
“I’ve never seen that in football before,” Finnegan said.
Finnegan added: “He may have something in his blood, you know? Maybe it’s female related.”
Finnegan maintained that Beckham Jr. should have been ejected.
Norman echoed the sentiment and added, “I agree. I agree 110%.”
Beckham runs by Finnegan (l.) but doesn’t compose himself until late in the game.
He added that Beckham Jr. wants to “dance and prance around like a ballerina” but “shouldn’t be on the field.”
Beckham Jr. caught six passes for 76 yards and one touchdown in the game. His lone score tied the game with 1:46 left in the game. He dropped a deep pass on the opening drive, and did not connect with Manning in the first half.
Carolina coach Ron Rivera expressed disappointment in his players for losing their composure at times.
“Turn away and walk away,” he said.
