‘Murphy Brown’ reboot coming to CBS, Candice Bergen to return

Just “FYI,” CBS is bringing back “Murphy Brown.”

The network announced Wednesday a reboot of the popular sitcom, with Candice Bergen slated to reprise her role as the eponymous journalist and news anchor.

The new and improved “Murphy Brown” will get 13 episodes for the 2018-2019 broadcast season that will find the beloved character returning “to a world of cable news, social media, fake news and a very different political and cultural climate,” according to a press release.

The show premiered in 1988, and scored 62 Emmy nominations and 18 wins over its 10-year run.

Original creator Diane English will return as a writer and executive producer.

“Murphy Brown” is just the latest series to come back from the dead; it joins “Roseanne,” “Will & Grace,” “The X-Files” and many more.
