Mike Francesa isn’t done yet — he just isn’t quite sure what the next step will be.
The Sports Pope, who chatted on New York radio for the first time since exiting his WFAN show a couple months ago, maintains that he still wants to work. Francesa will be contractually able to go somewhere else on April 1.
“I still have not made a decision yet about what I’m going to do,” he told Sal Licata Tuesday evening on WOR 710 AM.
The former drive-time host added that he’d continue to do his MLB over-unders, hinting it’d be with former radio partner Chris “Mad Dog” Russo.
Francesa bid farewell to his show after 28 years on Dec. 15.
“More than anything else, going out, I want to thank you guys, the listeners, the audience,” he said at the time. “Without you we don’t last a week, we don’t last a month. So what I like to say to you is that I’ll miss you, I thank you and from the bottom of my heart, I love you. Goodbye.”
Chris Carlin, Bart Scott and Maggie Gray ended up taking over his time slot with a new WFAN show called “The Afternoon Drive with Carlin, Bart and Maggie.”
