Michael Lohan and Kate Major’s relationship troubles temporarily cost them custody of their two young children.
After the Florida Department of Children and Families obtained a video of the couple having an “extreme argument” in front of their kids — 2-year-old Landon and 10-month-old Logan — the boys were removed from Major’s home in Boca Raton last Wednesday, TMZ reports.
Major, 32, was reportedly told by DCF officials that the kids were taken into custody until a responsible family member could be given temporary guardianship.
After spending the night in foster care, the children were taken to Lohan’s home, where they were put under the temporary guardianship of Lohan’s mother, the site reports.
Lohan and Major are currently only allowed to see their children in the presence of their grandmother.
The pair are due in family court Tuesday to review the video and map out a plan for the children’s care.

For his part, Lohan tells TMZ that the reason his children were taken away is because Major, who has had legal troubles stemming from alcohol abuse, was not supposed to have the kids without a monitor, and DCF officials felt that “he didn’t protect the kids from her.”
Lohan later claimed Major had set him up, calling her “a proven alcoholic, a liar … and an abuser,” TMZ reported.
“I have so many videos of her abuse, her lies and admitting her lies and saying she’ll lie and do anything she can to set me up,” he said.
The estranged couple were briefly engaged in 2010 but broke up a short time later. Despite their troubled relationship, the two reunited in 2012 after Major became pregnant with their eldest son.
