The Weinstein Company owes a Swiss chocolatier $ 133,333 over event sponsorship fees, a new lawsuit alleges.
The Weinstein Company and Lindt & Sprungli inked a sponsorship agreement in November 2015, according to court papers.
Under the deal, Lindt would pay $ 400,000 to sponsor the Weinstein Company’s Golden Globe Awards Show events in 2016, 2017 and 2018 – which works out to about $ 133,333 per event.
The Weinstein Company’s 2018 event was canceled in the wake of allegations that company co-founder Harvey Weinstein sexually harassed and assaulted numerous women.
Lindt, which is known for its truffles, claims it has asked the Weinstein Company repeatedly to return money for the axed 2018 party.
The Weinstein Company hasn’t given Lindt back a single penny, the Manhattan Supreme Court suit claims.
One of The Weinstein Company’s civil lawyers declined to comment on the case.
Lindt did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
