Lana Del Rey’s home in Malibu was broken into by an obsessed fan, who camped out in her garage.
Singer Lana Del Rey now has some haunting new material for her evocative ballads.
The “Summertime Sadness” artist’s Malibu mansion was broken into by an obsessed fan — who decided to camp out in her garage while she was away from home, E! News is reporting.
The alleged intruder, 19-year-old Zachary Self, was arrested at a nearby Starbucks after a construction worker discovered him bundled up in the singer’s garage.
Police managed to track down the overzealous fan thanks to clues he left behind after fleeing the scene, including “paperwork with ramblings of his infatuation” with the songstress, according to E! News.
Authorities also told the entertainment site that the invader believed he possessed a “spiritual connection” to Del Rey.
“Based on ramblings in his notes, he was clearly infatuated with Lana,” a Lost Hills, Calif. detective told E! News.
The 19-year-old intruder is reportedly being held in jail on $ 150,000 bail. He was cooperative with police but was arrested for felony burglary since he stole a book from the singer’s home, according to TMZ.
Ironically, Del Rey moved to the spacious, $ 3 million joint in June because she was tired of fans sniffing around her former Hancock Park, Los Angeles home, TMZ reported at the time.
Del Rey is hardly the first fan to receive a breech in privacy from an over-the-top fan, as Bristol Palin, Rihanna, Selena Gomez and Mila Kunis have each had frightening interactions with admirers in recent years.
