Karrueche Tran is already backtracking on a tweet she made mocking the drug cocktail “lean” — hours after rapper Fredo Santana died of a seizure.
Santana, 27, reportedly used “lean” — a drink concoction mixed with prescription cough syrup and promethazine, an allergy medication. The more you drink it, the more likely you are to get some of the serious effects, such as seizures.
Tran wrote in a now-deleted tweet Saturday morning, “LEAN IS WEAK AF #lame #corny #sorrynotsorry” and almost immediately faced a slew of backlash for her remarks.
Shortly after, Tran, 29, took to Twitter to apologize for the tweet.
Fredo Santana died on Friday after a seizure.
“That totally came out the wrong way,” she wrote. “Wasn’t tryna offend anyone. I meant it in general terms. Bad timing.”
When someone asked why she was apologizing, the model said she believed what she said to be “1000% true,” but it wasn’t meant to be about Fredo.
“What I said was 1000% true,” she continued. “It was bad timing and seemed directed towards Fredo (RIP) which it wasn’t at all.”
Stars gone too soon
Santana, the cousin of fellow Chicago rapper Chief Keef, was found dead by his girlfriend on the floor of his home, according to TMZ.
In recent months, Santana, whose real name is Derrick Coleman, was hospitalized for liver and kidney failure.
He was the father to an 8-month-old son.
