This “American Idol” champ has had plenty of reasons to sing with joy in recent months.
Jordin Sparks — who won the TV singing competition in 2007 — married her boyfriend, Dana Isaiah, in an under-the-radar ceremony in July, and is now expecting her first child with him, People reported.
“We’re both really excited,” Sparks told the magazine. “He’s been like, ‘I want to shout it from the mountain tops!’ We’re really proud to be married to each other and to be celebrating this.”
The couple tied the knot in Hawaii during a trip there with a few friends.
They found out the singer was pregnant a month later.
“It’s been really crazy because everything changes,” Sparks said. “Once we got over the initial shock of it, now again just like it is with the marriage, to be able to share that this amazing thing is happening, it’s such a great thing.”
Celebrity bling and engagement rings
Things have happened quickly for Sparks, 27, and Isaiah, 25. The singer met Sparks’ family this past February when she went to Houston for the weekend of the Super Bowl, and Isaiah’s mother connected them because he was planning to move to Los Angeles.
“My mom was trying to get (Jordin) to talk me out of moving to L.A. because she’s experienced the industry out here,” Isaiah told the magazine. “It wasn’t like, ‘We want you guys to date.'”
They ended up meeting in person for the first time in April over Easter weekend, and got married three months later.
They made their red carpet debut in August.
