Exactly a week after the deadly shooting in Las Vegas, Jason Aldean and pregnant wife Brittany returned to the scene.
“Feels surreal being back in Vegas today. Visiting some of the strongest people we have ever met… fighting the toughest battle of them all… for their lives,” Brittany captioned a photo outside the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.
“You have helped us try to begin the healing process by seeing the strength each one of you have. Thank you for today. We will never forget.”
Stephen Paddock opened fire from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay into the crowd of Aldean’s set at the Route 91 Harvest Festival last Sunday, killing at least 58 people.
Aldean, who also visited victims at the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada, made a surprise appearance on “Saturday Night Live” to honor Tom Petty with a rendition of “Won’t Back Down.”
Remembering the victims of the Las Vegas mass shooting
“Like everyone, I’m struggling to understand what happened that night, and how to pick up the pieces and start to heal,” he said.
“So many people are hurting. There are children, parents, brothers, sisters, friends — they’re all part of our family. So I want to say to them: We hurt for you, and we hurt with you. When America is at its best, our bond and our spirit, it’s unbreakable.”
