“I’ve had my a– grabbed by older, powerful men, I’ve had them corner me in inappropriate sexual conversations when I was much younger…” the actor wrote on Twitter early Thursday.

“I understand the unwarranted shame, powerlessness & inability to blow the whistle. There’s a power dynamic that feels impossible to overcome,” he wrote.

Van Der Beek is not the first man to reveal his own experience with sexual misconduct in Hollywood. Actor Terry Crews shared a lengthy account of being groped in the genital area by a “high level Hollywood executive” in 2016.

“This whole thing with Harvey Weinstein is giving me PTSD,” he wrote. “Why? Because this kind of thing happened to ME.”
