Investigators believe Lee Thompson Young took his own life.

LOS ANGELES — Former Disney star Lee Thompson Young was found dead of an apparent gunshot to the head in his North Hollywood apartment Monday and cops were investigating the case as a suicide, a law enforcement source told the Daily News.

Young, 29, was best known for his leading role in the Disney series “The Famous Jett Jackson.” He was found unresponsive by Los Angeles cops conducting a welfare check about 9 a.m. after reportedly missing a call time on the set of the TNT police drama “Rizzoli & Isles,” the source said.

Investigators believe Young took his own life, the celebrity website TMZ.com reported.

“People were concerned when he didn’t show up to work and notified the station. When officers arrived, they discovered him unresponsive at his apartment. He was declared deceased at the scene by the Los Angeles Fire Department,” the law enforcement source said.

Young, originally from South Carolina, also portrayed running back Chris Comer in the 2004 movie “Friday Night Lights.”

Calls to his representatives were not immediately returned.

Young played Detective Barry Frost on “Rizzoli & Isles” alongside co-stars Angie Harmon, Sasha Alexander and “Sopranos” actress Lorraine Bracco.

Lee Thompson Young also appeared on the UPN’s ‘South Beach.’

His fans quickly took to Twitter to express their sadness.

“RIP @Lee_T_Young I know his family. We’re from the same city. Only 29. So gifted and talented. Made us proud. Praying 4 his fam,” tweeted Travis J. Simons of Dallas.
