Dems ask DOJ for possible evidence that FBI had Clinton bias

House Democrats have asked the Department of Justice to provide them with evidence showing the FBI had political bias against Hillary Clinton during the presidential campaign.

Reps. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) and Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), senior Democrats on the Judiciary and Oversight committees, submitted a letter to DOJ officials on Monday requesting they hand over material about possible FBI leaks and of True Pundit, a conservative website, during the agency’s investigation into Clinton’s use of a private email server.

“Our committees are now engaged in an investigation of allegations of politically-motivated misconduct at the FBI,” the letter directed toward Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein read. “We have had similar concerns for some time.”

“The facts point to a coordinated effort by some in the FBI to change the course of the Clinton investigation by leaking sensitive information to the public, and by threatening to leak additional information after the investigation was closed,” the Democrats wrote.

They also asked whether “True Pundit,” which they described as a “fringe conspiracy website,” had any connections to the Clinton investigation, former FBI agents, WikiLeaks or the Russian government.

True Pundit, citing government sources, published several stories claiming the FBI didn’t charge Clinton because the agency favored her.

The letter comes before Rosenstein is scheduled to testify in front of the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday. The Democrats demanded the DOJ comply with their requests by Dec. 21.
