Their marriage may not have worked out, but they can still make music together.

Chris Martin’s band Coldplay debuted their next single “Everglow” off their upcoming album “A Head Full of Dreams” on Thanksgiving Day featuring the frontman’s ex Gwyneth Paltrow.

Paltrow, who uncoupled from Martin last year after a decade together, is tough to hear as she only sings in the background around the 1:30 mark of the track during the lyrics: “How come things move on/How come cars don’t slow.”

Martin revealed in an interview with Q Magazine that the reason Paltrow contributed to the ballad is because she “came up with the idea” for those particular lyrics.

“So I said, ‘Is there any chance you’d sing that line cos it’s your idea?’ Like any human, she was like, ‘I can’t do that! I’m not a professional!'” he revealed.

Martin speaks at the end of the song’s premiere on Beats Radio 1 explaining the meaning of “Everglow.”

“I was in the ocean one day with this surfer guy, who spoke just like you’d imagine a surfer guy to speak. He was like, ‘Yo dude, I was doing this thing the other day man, it gave me this total everglow.’ I was like, ‘What an amazing word.’ Then the song came completely out,” he said.

“To me, it’s about — whether it’s a loved one or a situation or a friend or a relationship that’s finished, or someone’s passed away — I was really thinking about, after you’ve been through the sadness of something, you also get this everglow. That’s what it’s about.”

Aside from Martin and Paltrow’s conscious decision to sing together on Coldplay’s album, due out Dec. 4, the friendly exes also spent Thanksgiving with each other and their two children.
