Boy emptied piggy bank, donated savings after mosque defaced

When a Pflugerville, Texas Islamic center was littered with feces and torn pages from the Koran, 7-year-old Jack Swanson emptied his piggy bank and donated his savings to the center, according to a report by NBC affiliate KXAN-TV.

Jack collected his pennies with the help of his mother Laura Swanson and presented the Islamic Center of Pflugerville with a $ 20 bill. As Jack made the donation, his mother stressed the importance of religion while denouncing the criminal act.

“It’s disgusting, it’s gross. It doesn’t matter what you believe, or I believe, or he believes, or anybody believes, all faith is important,” Laura Swanson told reporters.

Jack’s donation drew viral attention, as well as appreciation from mosque leaders.

“Jack’s $ 20 are worth $ 20 million to us because it’s the thought that counts,” board member Faisal Naeem told ABC News.

The Islamic center operates out of a shopping plaza. No one has been charged in the incident. The facility didn’t receive any physical damage, and flowers were later placed at the center.
