Tulum, Mexico’s Sac Actun underwater cave system was dubbed “the most important underwater archaeological site in the world” by experts on Feb. 19, 2018, a declaration made in the same breath as the news that entire site is being threatened with pollution. Professional divers have come across human and animal remains as old as 15,000 years old in the cave, a legacy that is being threatened by the presence of tourists.
