Singer Ariana Grande has diminished the role her momager Joan will play in her career decisions, a source tells [email protected]
ARIANA’S MOMAGER TAKES A BACKSEAT
Ariana Grande no longer has her ever-present momager Joan making all her career decisions, one well-placed music industry source tells [email protected]
“Ariana was getting a bad rap, but it’s really her mother who is so demanding,” explains our music insider. “She wants to be a grown up, she wants to make her own decisions, she wants to be like Taylor (Swift), who has a camp but makes every single decision when it comes to her image at the end of the day. So she’s made her mom less of a manager, more of a source of support.”
Our source adds that Grande’s mom is the one who has been making demands on the singer’s behalf, and that Ariana’s bratty rep is the result of her mom being overprotective — although that still doesn’t explain why the 22-year-old likes to be carried around like a baby.
Earlier this month, we reported that Grande may join Justin Bieber on a massive worldwide tour following the release of his new album on Nov. 13.
“The whole thing will hopefully end in several (U.S.) stadium dates with special guest Ariana Grande,” said our insider. “This is in the very early stages but serious conversations are taking place.”
We hear nothing has been finalized yet, but both camps have told their people that they want to make it happen — and that Grande is all for it.
