Attorney Joseph Tacopina has been retained by luxury underwear brand Frigo in a lawsuit against Yankees legend Derek Jeter. In a statement obtained by [email protected] on Thursday, Tacopina doubles-down on the garment company’s previous claims that while serving as the company’s director, Jeter prevented the company from using rapper Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson to promote the brand because “Jeter stated that Jackson was ‘too urban.'”

TMZ reported on Nov. 18 that Frigo had first made that claim in a lawsuit against Jeter that was filed in Sweden, where the company is based.

Tacopina, a pit bull attorney who has also represented Bernard Kerik, Lillo Brancato and Joran van der Sloot, also claims that Jeter “caused the company to suffer substantial financial harm through misconduct and omissions, all which was done by Jeter in bad faith to serve his personal interests above that of the company.”

According to Tacopina, who plans to file papers against the Yankee captain on Monday, Jeter “tried to take over the company and run it into the ground so that he could buy additional shares at a reduced price.”

His statement also argues that “we fully intend to hold Jeter responsible in such litigation for his disingenuous and outrageous conduct described above.”

On Nov. 19, Jeter released a statement calling Frigo’s claims “categorically false” and countered that he currently has a lawsuit pending against them in a Delaware court for their “failure to fulfill its obligations to me as a substantial investor and creditor.”

Jeter also called out Frigo owner Mathias Ingvarsson in his statement.

“I am disgusted by Mr. Ingvarsson’s decision to make these false allegations against me in the press, instead of attempting to work out our business dispute in private,” he said. “I will take all necessary steps to prove these allegations to be untrue.”
