A Canadian actor was found beaten to death in a television presenter’s Los Angeles home, according to police.
Richard Hong, 41, was found with blunt force trauma early Friday morning after authorities responded to a 2 a.m. call about a robbery in Hollywood Heights, Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman Norma Eisenman told the Daily News.
George Stroumboulopoulos, who has hosted for Canada’s CBC and Hockey Night in Canada, owns the home but said that he was in New York.
A friend of television personality George Stroumboulopoulos was found dead in the star’s Los Angeles home.
“I only have a few details but it seems like it was the result of a break in,” he posted on Twitter Friday evening, adding that he was flying back to L.A.
“The victim was a dear friend of mine, who was staying at my place while I was away. I am heartbroken.”
Stroumboulopoulos said he was away in New York and is “heartbroken” by his friend’s death.

The Los Angeles County Coroner told the Los Angeles Times that the victim suffered head trauma.
A witness reported seeing an unknown man wearing a black jacket running away from the scene, Eisenman said.
Police said Hong was a Los Angeles resident, and it was not immediately clear why he was staying at Stroumboulopoulos’s home.
