Powerhouse producer Benny Medina, manager of megastars like J. Lo, was accused Friday of trying to rape a young male actor in 2008.
Jason Dottley said the violent incident occurred in Medina’s Los Angeles mansion. The older man, now 59, grabbed Dottley by the neck and pinned him to a bed, the actor said.
Dottley, who starred in “Sordid Lives: The Series,” shared his harrowing account of the alleged 2008 sexual assault with The Advocate.
He cited fellow actor Anthony Rapp’s recent sexual assault allegations against actor Kevin Spacey as his inspiration in speaking out.
Dottley said he was with his friend and fellow actor T. Ashanti Mozelle at a bar in West Hollywood when Medina approached them.
Dottley, who was married to “Queer as Folk” writer Del Shores at the time, was eager to network and accepted Medina’s invitation to his house under the assumption the powerful manager had eyes for Mozelle, he told The Advocate.

When the two friends arrived at Medina’s home, he led them on a tour, Dottley said.
Mozelle decided he was going to take a dip when they arrived at the pool, leaving Medina and Dottley to continue on their own.
They got to a bedroom door, and everything changed, Dottley said.
“There was no ‘Do you want to see my bedroom?’ We literally got to the door and he grabbed me by the chest of my shirt and threw me onto his bed,” he told the magazine.
Dottley, noting his own considerable size, said he fought hard to get away – but nothing worked.

Medina rammed his tongue in Dottley’s mouth, the actor said.
As the situation escalated, according to Dottley, he pointed to his wedding ring and begged Medina to stop, he told The Advocate.
Medina allegedly held his forearm over Dottley’s neck and pinned his thighs on top of the actor’s legs before telling him, “I’m having you.”
The actor said he cried out as the manager pulled on his pants.
“His forearm was bearing down on my neck so hard that I don’t know how much longer I would have remained conscious,” says Dottley.

When his friend Mozelle burst into the room, Medina let Dottley go, the actor recalled.
Medina then threw Dottley against the bedroom door and said, “You two get the f— out of here,” the actor told The Advocate.
A few days later, the Dottley said he was walking down Robertson Boulevard with his husband when he received a text message from the manager.
“Hey, I’m at The Ivy eating. Just saw you walking across the street. Is that the husband I have to have killed to have you?” Medina wrote, according to Dottley.
Medina’s attorneys Howard Weitzman and Shawn Holley denied the accusations.
“Benny Medina categorically denies the allegation of attempted rape,” his lawyers said.
