One Direction’s new music video seems to be pointing in Taylor Swift’s direction.
The black-and-white clip for “Perfect” shows Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson “causing trouble up in hotel rooms” at the Intercontinental Hotel in New York City.
But 1D fans are most focused on Styles’ appearance in the video, since he allegedly co-wrote “Perfect” in response to “Style,” the hit single by his famous ex.
Just as “Perfect” is musically similar to “Style,” the group’s new video seems to reference Swift’s.
Many fans believe that “Perfect” is about Taylor Swift, the ex-girlfriend of Harry Styles.
One Direction filmed the music video for “Perfect” at New York’s Intercontinental Hotel.
Members of One Direction trash their hotel room in “Perfect.”
In the clip, the 21-year-old is shown lying on a hotel bed as he sings lyrics his fans believe is about the “Shake It Off” singer.
“If you’re looking for someone to write your breakup songs about / Baby, I’m perfect,” he sings as clouds are projected over him — a stylistic touch that emulates Swift’s video for “Style.”
One fan even tweeted a mashup of “Perfect” and “Style” that showed how closely the songs and videos are intertwined.
The video for “Perfect” seems to be a hit with fans, as it has already racked up close to 4 million views since debuting Tuesday.
