Donald Trump’s $ 500 million lawsuit against Univision is “beyond frivolous” and should be tossed out of court, the Spanish language TV network argued Friday.

In papers filed in Manhattan Federal Court, lawyers for Univision painted Trump as a thin-skinned hypocrite for suing the network for defamation and breach of contract.

“There is a rich irony to Trump’s cry that he is the target of an effort to ‘suppress (his) right to free speech’ when it is Trump himself – a candidate for President – who is attempting to invoke the coercive power of the courts to punish a citizen’s speech. That is not how our democracy works,” the filing says.

Trump’s suit said, in part, that he was slimed by a Univision exec who re-posted an image of Trump next to South Carolina church-shooter Dylann Roof, with the caption “No Comments.”

The Univision filing says it was “a tongue in cheek” post about two glum looking people with “similarly coiffed hair.”

“The fact that Trump is too ‘thin-skinned’ to endure the kind of lampooning that has typified presidential campaigns since the founding of the Republic does not entitle him to pursue a judgment and $ 500 million in alleged damages,” the filing says.

Trump’s suit accused Univision of breach of contract for refusing to air his Miss USA pageant in the wake of comments he made when he announced his presidential run.

The network said it was his own fault.

“Trump offended millions during that announcement when he made disgraceful allegations about Mexican immigrants,” the network’s filing says.

“Trump’s invective … rendered the pageants toxic to Univision’s viewership,” the filing says. “Trump cannot now stick Univision with the bill.”
