Tom Petty’s sudden death remains a mystery in the eyes of the coroner.
The 66-year-old rocker’s cause of death is currently listed as “deferred,” according to a death certificate obtained by TMZ.

That means that officials are still awaiting the cause of death results, which in some cases means autopsy results, according to Los Angeles County’s Department of Public Health.
The gossip site also reports that Petty died at 11:43 p.m. EST on Oct. 2 at UCLA Santa Monica, information that his family previously divulged in a statement.
The Los Angeles County vital records office declined to release further information.
Petty was taken off life support just before his death after going into full cardiac arrest Oct. 1.
