Velvet-voiced crooner Michael Feinstein was in a self-mocking mood at the premiere of his new holiday engagement.
“It feels wonderful to be a virgin again,” quipped the 59-year-old Feinstein, who marveled in the next breath that he’s been performing for three decades.
But the Sunday night premiere marked his first time at Feinstein’s/54 Below, a popular W. 54th St. club where he’s now a partner. “You are people of impeccable taste,” he told the crowd.
During the evening of seasonal songs, standards and pop tunes, Feinstein name-checked a couple friends who are iconic New Yorkers, Confidenti@l hears from Daily News critic Joe Dziemianowicz, who was in the sardine-packed crowd.
The indefatigable Liza Minnelli came up in a playful riff on “New York, New York,” as well as in a sweet introduction to “You and Me” and “I’d Rather Leave While I’m in Love.”
Feinstein sang “Fifty Percent,” a two-Kleenex ballad from the musical “Ballroom,” as a musical air-kiss to the late Elaine Stritch.
“Elaine had a way of disappearing before the bill arrived,” he joked. But when Feinstein’s dad was sick and couldn’t get a bed at a local hospital, the legendarily salty-tongued Stritch “made two phone calls” and his dad was in. Money can’t buy that kind of friendship.
Feinstein’s show runs through Dec. 30.

Raven-Symoné celebrated yet another 30th birthday bash over the weekend and there was no shortage of sponsorships. “Symoné got dolled up by celeb favorite beauty app beGlammed before heading downstairs to Beacher’s Madhouse at the Roosevelt Hotel for a night of birthday festivities,” reads a press release from the L.A. event. Sure enough, Symoné thanked @beglammednow on Instagram. Confidenti@l reported on Dec. 4 that marketing gurus working with Symone — whose birthday was Dec. 10 — were floating around emails telling sponsors that “The View” host would pimp their brands for the right price.
