Mets to host Cardinals at Citi Field to open 2018 season

The Mets — and the rest of baseball — will open the 2018 season on Thursday, March 29. Thanks to the new collective bargaining agreement, the season starts earlier to accommodate more off days. The Mets will host the Cardinals. 

The Mets will play the AL East in interleague play next season, meaning six Subway Series games against the Yankees. . The Mets will host the Bronx Bombers in June and travel to the Bronx in July. . . . Noah Syndergaard played catch Tuesday. The righthander, who has been on the disabled list since May 1 with a torn right lat, had been shut down from throwing a simulated game on Sunday because of what the team called “general soreness,” from his rehab start on Thursday. The Mets are still hopeful he will pitch in the majors before the season is over.
