A man was fatally shot during an argument in Alphabet City Friday afternoon, police said.
Malik Campbell, 23, was hit once in the head outside a building in the Jacob Riis Houses complex on Ave. D by E. 8th St. around 4:15 p.m., authorities said.
“There were three shots. He was laying there face up, bleeding from the neck,” said one eyewitness, who didn’t want to be identified. “I went to see if he was still alive and he was still moving. Then there were cops everywhere.”
Medics brought the gravely wounded man to Bellevue Hospital where he died, according to cops.

Investigators believe the shooting was gang-related, sources said.
The man’s wife and twin brother rushed to the scene after the shooting, according to the witness. “His brother was screaming,” the woman told the Daily News.
Cops are trying to determine if the violence was connected to an earlier stabbing, according to sources.
