Alexis Feliciano, 51, is on suicide watch after he tried to kill himself last Sunday inside the Anna M. Kross facility.

Cops say Feliciano confessed to choking the crying baby, Mason Whyte Feliciano, to death in a bizarre fit of jealousy in a Bronx apartment. Feliciano, and his girlfriend, Danielle Whyte, 31, buried the baby in a shallow grave in upstate Dover on Dec. 11.

The heartbroken mother later tried to kill herself by taking pills. The police investigation was triggered after she later told a doctor about what had happened to the boy.

On Rikers, Feliciano is struggling to adjust to his new digs inside the East River lockup. He has complained the special unit he’s housed in is too cold, according to a jail insider.

“He asked for a blanket,” the source said, noting that other inmates did not seem to have a problem with the temperature.

Feliciano remains fixated with his wife, talking about her to others and constantly fiddling with his wedding ring, according to sources.

“She cared more for the baby than me,” he told one jail staffer.

Prosecutors contend he was jealous the infant was getting more attention from Whyte.

“I did the unspeakable,” Feliciano allegedly admitted to police in the 47th Precinct stationhouse after his arrest. “Sometimes (the baby) wouldn’t stop crying.”

Prosecutors said an autopsy showed the baby suffered a skull fracture and bleeding from the brain before his death.

Whyte said she heard Feliciano scream an obscenity at the crying baby — followed by several loud bangs, sources told the News.

“First I tried to hold him… then I tried to feed him, but that didn’t work,” the 51-year-old dad told investigators. “Then I tried to hold him some more.”

“Then I put my hand around his throat until he lost consciousness.”

In jail, he told one staffer he punched the baby in the face. The baby then stopped breathing so he put him into a bath.

“He loved the water,” Feliciano told the jail employee.

As for the attempted suicide, the Correction Department declined to discuss the matter.

“Commissioner (Joseph) Ponte cares deeply about the health and well-being of all inmates,” said department spokeswoman Eve Kessler. “DOC has had a vigorous suicide-prevention program in place for some time.”

The department employs suicide prevention aides who are employed in high-risk, specialty housing areas at all times.
