One of the Los Angeles police detectives who was investigating rape allegations against Knicks guard Derrick Rose has been found dead of a single gunshot wound to the chest, authorities said.

Nadine Hernandez, 44, was discovered mortally wounded inside a Whittier home Tuesday afternoon after the LAPD received a call reporting an attempted suicide, the Los Angeles Times reported Wednesday.

A gun was found at the scene.

Hernandez died at 3:27 p.m. at the PIH Health Hospital in Whittier, located 20 miles east of Los Angeles.

Judge refuses Derrick Rose’s lawyer’s motion to dismiss rape suit

“At this time there are no signs of foul play and this incident is being investigated as a suicide,” Whittier police said in a statement.

The death marked a tragic twist in the ongoing $ 21.5 million civil suit accusing Rose of rape.

Hernandez, who often investigated high-profile sex crime cases, wrote a letter last month confirming she had an open criminal investigation into the accusations leveled against Rose and his two friends, Randall Hampton and Ryan Allen.

During a break in the federal trial Wednesday, the 30-year-old accuser’s lawyer said Hernandez sat down with Rose’s on-again-off-again lover less than a month ago.

Derrick Rose testifies woman accusing him of rape initiated sex

“She unequivocally stated multiple times that a crime had been committed,” lawyer Brandon Anand told the Daily News, referring to the detective.

“She was about to file,” Anand added, refusing to elaborate.

Earlier, Rose’s lawyer Mark Baute, in arguing for a mistrial, insisted his team had a very different conversation with Hernandez.

“There’s no rape case here, but there are some texts,” Hernandez said, according to Baute.

A judge swatted away Baute’s request for a mistrial saying damning text messages that may not have been turned over to the defendants before trial were not reason enough to bounce the case.

The accuser has testified the three men gang -raped her inside her apartment in August 2013 following a night of partying at Rose’s Beverly Hills mansion.

Rose and his pals say the encounter was consensual.

The woman filed suit in Aug. 2015, two years after the alleged encounter. Four months later, she reported the incident to the LAPD.

Rose said last month he was never contacted by Hernandez or any other officers from the LAPD.
