Indians' Encarnacion suffers gruesome-looking ankle injury

Indians cleanup man Edwin Encarnacion hurt his ankle during an inning-ending doubleplay at second base in the first inning that caused the crowd at Progress Field to groan upon seeing a replay.

Encarnacion was trying to get back to the base on Jay Bruce’s soft liner to Didi Gregorius. He went in awkwardly, and hurt himself in the process, staying on the ground in pain.

Encarnacion needed help getting off the field, and couldn’t put any weight on his ankle.
