The kind-hearted friend who gave a kidney to Selena Gomez revealed her scars from the operation for the time in a new Instagram post.
Francia Raisa, who donated the organ to Gomez earlier this summer, posted a video Thursday that showed her working out while two scars on her stomach were visible.
“Happy to be back,” wrote Raisa.
Gomez, 24, revealed earlier this month that Raisa had donated a kidney to her over the summer due to her lupus. The pop star shared the news of the kidney transplant in an Instagram post showing her and Raisa smiling and holding hands in side-by-side hospital beds.
“She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me,” Gomez captioned the image. “I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis.”
Gomez also shared a photo of her scar in that initial Instagram post.
Raisa and Gomez became friends in 2008 when they met at a charity event sponsored by Disney and its network, ABC.
Raisa, 29, is a model-turned actress known for her role on the former TV series “The Secret Life of an American Teenager.”
“I am beyond grateful that God would trust me with something that not only saved a life, but changed mine in the process,” Raisa wrote on Instagram shortly after Gomez made her post about the kidney transplant.
Raisa’s mom, Virginia Almendarez, gushed over the young stars’ friendship in an interview with Telemundo earlier this month.
“The love between them has really grown,” she told the Spanish-language outlet. “Selena is a great girl, and she also has a big heart, as does Francia. I’m very proud of both of them. Francia has a huge heart because not anyone would just let go of one of their organs to give it to someone else.”
Lupus is a disease that causes a person’s immune system to attack his or her organs and body tissue. Gomez first confirmed she has the condition in 2015.
