Facebook launched filters for the social network’s On This Day feature allowing users to remove memories from specific people or a certain time period.

The feature includes status updates, photos and other News Feed content packaged in an On This Day hub, so users can view what happened on this day a year ago or longer.

While most of those memories may include happy moments such as the birth of a child or when people first became friends through Facebook, it can also conjure up sad memories such as the passing of a loved one.

“Everyone has various kinds of memories that can be surfaced — good, bad and everything in between,” reads a statement from Facebook. “So for the millions of people who use On This Day, we’ve added these filters to give them more control over the memories they see.”

The update rolled out on Tuesday.
