Eminem has suffered a family tragedy.
The rapper’s former sister-in-law Dawn Scott was found dead Tuesday of a suspected drug overdose, People reports.
Scott, the twin sister of his ex-wife Kimberly Mathers, was also the biological mother of Eminem’s adopted daughter, Alaina, 22.
The 41-year-old was discovered “slumped over in bed and unresponsive” at a home in Macomb County, Michigan, according to James Fouts, the mayor of Warren, Michigan.
“It’s suspected to be drug use, possibly heroin,” he said.
The official cause of Scott’s death has not been confirmed as the toxicology report is still pending, the outlet reports.
An elderly woman described as “emaciated” was also found at the home and taken to the hospital.
Kimberly posted a loving tribute to her sister on a funeral home website Wednesday, describing her as “my sweet, beautiful sister who lost her way.”
“I kept a light lit for her hoping she’d find her way back to me,” she continued. I miss her and love her more than anything I could ever say.
“Half of me is gone and I will never feel whole again,” Kimberly wrote. “She was the best sister and friend in the world and I will miss her until we are together again.”
Scott’s memorial service is scheduled to be held Saturday at a Michigan funeral home.
