In an emotional display of respect and appreciation, nearly the entire Eagles roster emptied out onto the field to support Jason Peters after the longtime left tackle suffered what appeared to be a serious knee injury and needed to be carted off the field during the second half of the Eagles’ game against Washington Monday night.
The injury occurred after Peters was in pass protection against linebacker Ryan Anderson when nose tackle Ziggy Hood fell onto Peters’ right knee causing it to buckle.
Eagles fans chanted “Let’s go Peters!” as he was carted off the field.
The Eagles later announced Peters would not return to the game.
Other than his rookie season, Peters, who came into the league as an undrafted free agent, has played in at least 13 games every season of his career.
Peters, 35, has been named to the Pro Bowl nine times and was a first-team All-Pro selection in 2014, 2013 and 2011.
