Los Angeles cops have launched a felony investigation of actor Charlie Sheen, an LAPD source confirmed to the Daily News.
The probe centers on abuse allegations made by the actor’s ex-fiancée Scottine Ross during a police interview last week and an alleged 35-minute audio tape reported by RadarOnline and The National Enquirer, the source said.
Investigators served a search warrant on Radar in New York on Tuesday asking for the recording, the source said.
In the alleged recording, Sheen reportedly threatens to pay someone $ 20,000 to kill Ross and admits he lied to a sex partner about his HIV status.
Radar previously reported the tape was recorded by a former Sheen lover who confronted the “Platoon” actor after he claimed in a November interview with NBC’s Matt Lauer that he never hid his HIV diagnosis from any sex partners.
“Why did you tell me you were not infected?” the unidentified woman reportedly asked Sheen during the recorded call, according to Radar.
“Because it’s none of you f—ing business,” Sheen reportedly answered.
While discussing Ross, Sheen allegedly threatened her safety, according to Radar.
“This piece of sh– needs to be f—ing buried,” Sheen purportedly said of his ex-fiancée. “I’d rather spend 20 grand to have her head kicked in.”
The website released excerpts from an alleged transcript of the call —but no audio.
“This is a very sensitive investigation,” the LAPD source told The News. “I’m confirming that yes, the search warrant was served.”
The audio tape is “one of the things we will be requesting,” the source said.
“Based on the elements of the allegations, this is a felony investigation. But keep in mind these are only allegations at this point,” the source said.
Investigators served the search warrant on “senior editors” at Radar, the website reported.
The warrant named the alleged victim as “Scottie Ross, aka Brett Rossi,” according to Radar.
Ross was engaged to Sheen in 2014, but the couple had a bitter breakup, and Ross sued the actor in December claiming assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, false imprisonment and negligence.
She said he engaged in unprotected sex with her without divulging he was HIV positive.
Ross made a beeline for a police station in Van Nuys last Thursday after seeing the Radar report, a source close to the former porn star told The News.
“Honestly, she’s terrified,” the source said Friday. “He said he was going to pay someone $ 20,000 to kill her. Lots of people might say, ‘That’s just Charlie being Charlie,’ but we’ve lived through O.J. (Simpson). We don’t take this as a joke.”
In the alleged recording, Sheen reportedly threatens to pay someone $ 20,000 to kill his ex Scottine Ross and admits he lied to a sex partner about his HIV status.
Police granted Ross an emergency restraining order, the source said.
A rep for Sheen was critical of Ross in a statement issued late Friday.
“This is a publicity stunt,” lawyer Marty Singer told The News. “The TRO was obtained without notice to Charlie Sheen or his attorney. I believe it is the first time someone obtained an order based on a story in a tabloid.”
Radar said the search warrant affidavit leaned heavily on Ross’ Thursday statement to police.
“Ross stated that during the time she resided with Sheen she endured domestic violence, physical assaults and death threats,” the affidavit said, according to Radar.
“Ross reported that on several occasions Sheen had brandished firearms at her and threatened her life. Ross stated that she did not report the violence and abuse at the time the incidents occurred, as she feared for her safety and was under Sheen’s control,” the affidavit reportedly said.
“Ross stated she witnessed Sheen in fits of rage and violent outbursts on numerous occasions. Ross stated that she witnessed Sheen threaten to kill his former wife Denise Richards and their children’s lives. Ross stated that Sheen made threats to ‘put a hit on her former boyfriend,’ which Ross understood to mean Sheen wanted to hire someone to kill her former boyfriend,” the affidavit purportedly continued.
“Ross further stated that Sheen had unprotected sex with her while infected with HIV and Sheen did not disclose that he was HIV positive to her prior to engaging in sexual intercourse,” it said, according to Radar.
Sheen’s camp did not immediately respond to a request for comment Wednesday.
