Chad Michael Murray, ‘One Tree Hill’ stars rally around co-stars

Chad Michael Murray, James Lafferty, and the rest of the “One Tree Hill” men voiced support for their female co-stars, who, together, penned a joint letter accusing show creator Mark Schwahn of sexual harassment and emotional abuse.

Murray, who starred as Lucas Scott, praised the women — including Sophia Bush, Hilarie Burton and Bethany Joy Lenz — as “strong and incredible,” and expressed his pride in their decision to speak up.

“Equal rights & equal treatment isn’t an option, it is mandatory… I stand with all those who have suffered & pray that this evil will meet its demise in the strength of this movement. ‘OTH’ women — I’m so dang proud of you,” he said in a statement to Entertainment Weekly.

Lafferty, who starred as Nathan Scott, also praised the women’s letter, and voiced his support.

“I applaud every woman on ‘OTH,’ every woman on earth, who stands up to a system that has failed them in the past and in this moment. I stand with them,” he wrote on Twitter.

Bryan Greenberg (Jake Jagielski), meanwhile, wrote he was “shocked and saddened” to hear about what the women were forced to endure, and said he hopes their decision to come forward helps end the culture of harassment.

Other stars, including Austin Nichols (Julian Baker), Stephen Colletti (Chase Adams), Antwon Tanner (Skills Taylor), Lee Norris (Mouth McFadden), Robert Buckley (Clay Evans) and writer Mike Daniels offered similar statements.

Bush thanked the men for their support on Twitter, using the hashtag #BurnItDownSis and #F–kYourSorry.

Hollywood stars accused of sexual harassment and assault

The allegations against Schwahn started with writer Audrey Wauchope, who shared a lengthy Twitter thread Monday night revealing alleged predatory behavior. She did not identify Schwahn by name.

She claimed female writers tried to avoid sitting next to him on office couches, and that he pet her hair and massaged her shoulders without permission.

Shortly after Wauchope’s tweets were published, the show’s female stars banded together in support, and issued a joint statement explaining that Schwahn’s alleged misconduct extended to many on set.

“Many of us were, to varying degrees, manipulated psychologically and emotionally. More than one of us is still in treatment for post-traumatic stress… Many of us were spoken to in ways that ran the spectrum from deeply upsetting, to traumatizing, to downright illegal,” the statement read.
