The Bill skipped out on dinner.
President Bill Clinton surprised guests at the Oceana Gala in Tarrytown when he dropped in to a dinner honoring his pal Ted Danson with a Lifetime Achievement Award for three decades of service to ocean advocacy.
Meanwhile, some guests at a Republican “confab” dinner honoring Clinton Foundation supporter Shafik Gabr at the Metropolitan Club, who were expecting a visit from Clinton at the same time, were left surprised by the 42nd president’s non-appearance.
Attendees at the Metropolitan Club, some of whom had been told that Clinton would cross party lines to say hello to diners who’d dished out $ 1,000 per plate for this event, saw actress Julianna Margulies, former CIA director James Woolsey, Fox News personalities Judith Miller and Jeanine Pirro and former lieutenant governor Betsy McCaughey listen to speeches from guests including presidential wannabe Carly Fiorina, we’re told. The former Hewlett-Packard CEO was greeted with “chants of Carly 2024,” according to that same event insider.
Reps for Clinton could not be reached for comment.
