An airplane transporting a heart patient crashed into a Nevada parking lot Friday night, sending flames into the sky and causing multiple explosions that reportedly killed all four people on board, officials said.

The plane had allegedly taken off from Elko Regional Airport and was on route to the University of Utah Hospital when it crashed into the parking lot of an Elko mining company around 8:30 p.m. local time, according to the Elko Daily Free Press.

It was not immediately clear what caused the crash, which sparked a blaze that licked against a nearby casino and a senior housing complex, a video taken by a bystander shows. Continuous explosions can be heard in the dramatic 1-minute video.

There appeared to be no ground injuries or fatalities, but several cars in the Barrick Gold Corp. parking lot were destroyed or badly damaged, authorities said.

“There were four people on board,” Elko City Councilman John Patrick Rice told the Free Press. “It appears that everyone on the airplane died.”

Photos and video from the crash site posted to Twitter showed the airplane wreck spewing plumes of smoke and flames into the air.

Emergency responders were able to contain the fire about an hour after the crash.

“Worst part about this crash, they were transporting a heartpatient (sic),” tweeted a nearby resident, who said she was being evacuated because of the crash.
